The wealth of Bernard Arnault, the world’s richest person, has surged by more than $33 billion this year, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index.
The mogul’s fortune so far this year has increased him by $33.7 billion. This is more than his one-fifth of his total assets.
Bloomberg estimates his current net worth at $196 billion. The 73-year-old French billionaire is currently ranked by Bloomberg as the richest person in the world, followed by Elon Musk, who has an estimated net worth of $175 billion. Arnault co-founded the group in 1987 and owns brands such as Marc Jacobs, Givenchy and Moët & Chandon, and owns a 50% stake in Fenty Beauty. He also owns luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany’s and Christian Dior.
The CEO recently named his daughter Delphine Arnault as her CEO and chairman of Dior. Dior announced in January that the young Arnaud, who had been executive vice president of Louis Vuitton since 2013, would take over the company on February 1st.
His four sons all hold top positions in his companies as well. Antoine Arnault is CEO of LVMH holding company Christian Dior SE. Alexandre Arnault is Executive Vice President of Tiffany & Co. Frédéric Arnault is CEO of TAG Heuer. Jean Arnault is Director of Watch Development and Marketing at Louis Vuitton.
LVMH did not immediately respond to the Insider’s request for comment outside of normal business hours.
